Chartwell Castle

We are located in tranquil Chartwell West, yet close to the main roads, shopping malls (Fourways Mall, Fourways Crossing, Broadacres Garden Centre, Cedar Square), Monte Casino, The Lion Park, Lanseria Airport, and Fourways Hospital. We are within easy driving distance from O. R. Tambo International Airport.

Our guest house is very spacious and peaceful, with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. We have the biggest known uninterrupted hedgerow maze in the Southern world (and the third biggest in the world), boasting more than 900 conifers. It covers about 6000 sq.m. (approximately 1.5 acres), which is about 5 times bigger than The Hampton Court Maze. We have five suites with private bathrooms and under-floor heating, sleeping a total of 13 guests. They are all bright and spacious, with traditional country décor.

Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 9:30 am, but if you wish to eat earlier, please let us know.
We wish you a very relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Testimonials

  • The quiet seclusion and beautiful gardens. It's almost unbelievable that the biggest city in SA is just outside the hedges.

  • Driving in I thought that this place looks nice but when we met the staff I realize what is nice. Friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a bigger and better room at no additional cost seeing that it was Easter weekend and they did not have many guests. Then the exploring of the grounds happened, so peaceful the gardens. You can really recharge and a Castle away from home.

  • It was a wonderful stay. The hospitality was amazing. What an experience. I'll recommend Chartwell Castle to anyone who wants to take a break from home, but doesn't want to travel too far, and at a very reasonable price.

  • We went to the castle for a night, to escape the rat race without needing to drive too far. It was lovely! Tamara was very welcoming and dinner was delicious, as was breakfast! We were 15 minutes from home, but felt like we were in another world! We hope to be back!
